Philips HomeStudio App Reviews

Too many bugs to even use it

Woke me up with blasting trance music (radio) for 5 sec and white noise after in the middle of the night. Alarms turn on an off randomly when saved a couple of them. Cant save any new radio channels, I hit search and after playing the new channel for 1sec it changes back to the beginning channel (white noise). If I could, I would return the docking station to the store since I cant use it with my phone

Garbage

To access the alarm it demands that I dock my device.....as my device is already docked. This is a waste of space as there is now no means for using this worthless dock as an alarm.

Simply Terrible!

Renders alarm function of decent speaker completely unusable for all iOS devices. Crashes constantly, completely unreliable alarm functions, cant save favorites, meager choices for every function. Dozens of alarm apps out there that work so I kept the speaker but why would Philips ruin their products with an app that spoils both their products and their reputation, unless, of course, the problem lies in the design of the product itself? Have bought many Philips products over the years but may not again. Shame on Philips. Must give one star but would like to give much less. Dont waste money on this speaker or time on the app!

No probs...

Does what it says it does...

Its just ok...

Cant set my location using my zip. It finds my town, I select the town and it doesnt save it so no weather from my town. Saving radio stations is also quite confusing. In most cases and devices you select the radio station and then select the save button to save it as preset or u press the preset to save the station. Not the case on this. First u have to select/highlight the save button! Then u scroll to radio station u want. The u have to press the preset number number button to save the station. Still needs work however I dont expect them to have any kind of repair updated to the app. Its just the way it goes. Not bad for a father day gift though.

Nightly resets required; too much work

This app has a couple of fun sounds, but you need to reset it every time you use it- or it defaults to "last song played" on the iPod. One morning it played 2 different things at the same time, which was jarring! The blue numbers on the clock are too bright, and you have to reset that every night too. Too much work for a silly alarm click! Wish I had a different product

Works fine

Nice sound, no issues with iPod touch compatibility or app.

It works but its poorly designed.

I can set my alarm and it goes off the next morning. Every night you need to reset the alarm -- there is no repeat feature. Also itll only play the last song you were listening to for music to wake up or some random alarm song. I like the look of the clock but this app is terrible -- I hope they release a decent update for it. Itd also be nice if the radio had a Bluetooth feature as well ...

Awful!

Alarm function is totally inconsistent. App alarm will go off and no sound coming out of machine so alarm is useless. Dont waste your time or money. Most frustrating device purchase ever.

Piece of

I read the directions, got the app, set up EVERYTHING correctly & it does NOT work for

App

In instruction book the app has 4 functions. In App Store the app shows graphics with 4 functions I downloaded the app, the 4th function for FM radio is missing I have called 7 times, had chat session and emailed Target Tech support and Phillips consumer care. No one knows why it is missing. Talked to Phillios again after I updated to IOS 6.01 and got a replacement from Target. Walked through all the steps with Phillips who have said that the FM radio function will show after several minutes, after 12 minutes it did not show. Phillips said that the app may not be functioning with IOS so contact Apple but Ape said that it is the developer if the Apps responsibility to make sure the the app functions with the new IOS and send an update to be downloaded on ITunes. I am going to try other IPhones to see but I believe the issue is not with my phone but with the app. Phillips is going to contact corporate and the app developer to find out what the issue is and rectify it. Tried Phone with IOS 5.1, FM radio appears and works as designed. Phillips consumer care said that they are using Phone with IOS 6.0 and after a few minutes the FM radios panel appears after a few mins. It never appeared with 6.0 and with Phillops on the phone we waited 12 mins in dock for it to appear with Phone with IOS 6.01. I called Phillips and advised consumer care, what I had already beenbtelling them originally, that there is an issue with the App that needs to be updated. All if my other apps on phone work without issue with the IOS 6.01. Phillips needs to read these reviews to know what is going on. They told me that this issue with FM radio panel not appearing had never been reported before however I have read several reviews where people have had issues with the App not functioning as intended. Is it possible that they are not calling in to resolve their issue, highly unlikely. Would think twice before ever buying electronic product at Target again .and have no desire to buy another Phillips product. Target consumer care when alerted that I had an issue they said thanks for the feedback and when I advised them that I had found the issue they said that a consumer cannot pass on recommendations about a product. Phillips chat session staff have no experience or knowledge they never resolved the issue or followed up. Its better to buy electronics Japanese and buy through someone like Crutchfield that has incredibly good and knowledgeable consumer care.

Radio sound is choppy

I updated the app yesterday and now, every time I pop in my iPod, the radio sound constantly skips. If I remove the iPod, the radio sounds fine. I wasnt having any issues with this until the update. (Although it does annoy me that I have to reset the app alarm every night.) Not the best product Ive ever purchased, thats for sure. Would try something else but didnt I just spend about $75 on this?? (I think Ive had it too long to return it to Le Target.)

Do not disturb

This feature no longer seems to work while docked with the latest HomeStudio update. Phone still rings/vibrates when it should not

PLEASE FIX THIS!!!!

If it wasnt for the great sound I get from this unit, I wouldve returned it already :( The radio sounds choppy and once it it turned on through the app, it wont shut off. It plays whenever my iPhone is docked. I have to delete and reload the app to turn it off. Very frustrating.

Did someone design this?

Counterintuitive interface for the alarm. You need to go through a couple menus before setting it. Too easy to tap something you werent supposed to and reset the alarm time. Its basically daring yourself to oversleep if this is your only alarm. Great buy for the sound though. Try paying someone to design the app next time, Philip Phillips.

come on

the frigging slot for headphones wont frigging work on the clock radio thin wat da heck!!!!!!

Cool radio BUT very poor App

I can not believe a company like Philips comes with such a poor App. 1. It is not intuitive at all. 2. Poor sound choppy sound quality when you play radio as phone is docked. 3. Very slow app 4. Limited options for such a great interphase potential between phone and radio. Only thing Philips got is a cool retro looking radio and a good sound quality for such a small radio. Please revise app, and make the best of it.
